Jane's Walk 2018- Retracing Bushwick Creek: A walk through Greenpoint’s history with Geoffrey Cobb

  • Bushwick Inlet Park Building 86 Kent Avenue Brooklyn, NY, 11249 United States (map)

Join Greening Greenpoint for a guided walk through Greenpoint’s history with a special focus on the former Bushwick Creek

The walk will be led by Greenpoint historian Geoffrey Cobb, author of “Greenpoint Brooklyn’s Forgotten Past” and “The King of Greenpoint”.

Geoffrey will discuss the impact of Bushwick Creek on Greenpoint’s early development, geography, and point out its lasting impacts on the landscape.  Learn how 19th Century engineers took Bushwick Creek off the map and created the geography of Greenpoint we see today.

We’ll begin at the Parks Department building at 86 Kent Avenue (entrance on N 9th St. and Kent Ave.) with a short visual presentation and continue as a walking tour through Greenpoint, ending in McCarren Park

One lucky participant of each walk will take home a copy of "Greenpoint Brooklyn's Forgotten Past"!

We will run the walk twice, once beginning at 11 AM and again at 1 PM, sign up using the links below!
